Review on ROLA 59102 Wallaroo Cargo Bag: Ultimate Rainproof Expandable Hitch Tray Carrier in Black by Ryan Nguyen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

According to the instructions, the bag is not waterproof. Prepare your equipment in time.

We bought this product for our overland trip (in preparation) in addition to the 59502 ROLA load carrier. Usage: We followed the advice of other reviewers regarding the inner tarpaulin to protect the inside of the bag from shifting or moving and tearing the bag. We had another tarp between the bag and the trunk for the same reason. We've only used the included straps to hold the bag and they've worked well so far (1000 miles down). We keep all of our stuff in three 12 gallon containers. Performance: We finally survived our first heavy rain that lasted about 2 hours. After stopping at our destination, we checked the bag and noticed a leak in one of the bottom fillet welds. Since we had stuff in the bins, that wasn't a problem for us. The bag's instructions say it's not waterproof, and we seem to have proven it. This can be due to puddles of water in the tarpaulin under the bag and prolonged contact of the bag with small puddles (2 hours). Also, the zip flap can break very easily at the ends, so be careful when opening it. Update: We completed our 3800 mile drive by car and the results are consistent with my 1000 mile rating. After 6 hours of driving in torrential downpours in Missouri and Illinois, the bag leaked somewhere below again. I think it's because of one of the corner seams. We only used the supplied straps during the ride and had no problems with them. Due to constant weather changes, rain and extreme heat, they felt like they were about to break. In general, the bag is not waterproof. Store things in baskets.
