Update 09/14/2016: I had to return this monitor, although I really liked it, because my MBP 2011 just couldn't display 4k in full resolution at 60Hz - I could only do 4k at max. 30 Hertz. Trust me, if you can't drive 4k at 60Hz, don't bother with 4k. 30Hz is just awful to work with. I would keep it if I could afford another computer that supports 4k playback. I had to return it because I really liked the quality of the display even at 30Hz - it was so sharp and clear it didn't tire my eyes at all. When I get a new computer I will definitely buy this monitor. So I had to go for the Dell 2417H @ 1080p. :( But if you have a computer that supports 4k playback, do yourself a favor and get this monitor, especially if you do a lot of web reading or programming that requires you to be at the monitor all day I would take it However upon closer inspection I noticed that the price has increased by $400 over the North I used it as a secondary monitor from my Macbook Early 2011 Pro (4k doesn't work for me when I mirror it because my MBP is too old) Pros: - Once you get the full 4k resolution the picture is exceptionally sharp and crisp text is crisp and clear, easy to read, easy on the eye I had an ASUS MX279h and this monitor, albeit a great monitor, too much eyestrain and generally too bright no matter what yes wasn't allowed 1080p however I have an older 1080p Dell model at work and I have to say the Dell i n regards to the text ad simply wins, no doubt. I've found that with the Asus, I had to look away from the screen at all times because it severely restricted my vision. Dell factory settings are perfect out of the box, as always in true Dell style. I've never had to do much fiddling other than changing the MST to "secondary" to get a 4k display. I suspect I only need to adjust the display up or down as needed. I like the way the stand snaps onto the back of the panel. For some reason it seems safer to me. The menu buttons are neatly spaced and positioned on the side, in contrast to the touch clutter found on Asus or similar. I really hate fake touch buttons. You're either a pushable button or you're not, okay? Cons: - Dell always looks like a typical business dad when it comes to external panel design - boring, boxy, but it works. Well, in this case, of course, function over form, and I don't mind that. I'd rather have something that works and looks boring than something fancy and cool that doesn't work and just sucks the fun out of everything! (I'm looking at you Asus MX279h!) - Ports should be on the side, not under the panel. I understand the importance of the design, but it still causes some problems when connecting cables to the monitor. All in all a fantastic monitor! I have to say I don't think I'll be able to read text at 1080p again after that. I don't have a PC that supports 4k gaming so I can't comment on that aspect. However, I doubt you'll still get this if you're a serious gamer and looking for 4k. Response times on Dell monitors always tend to be faster (8ms+) and input lag is probably a bit higher than usual anyway. But what I can say is that if you are a programmer or someone who needs to read a lot or do a lot of office work on a monitor, this is for you. I've had it for a few days and no problems so far. If there are problems I will update. And just to emphasize, since using this I've never had to take my eyes off the monitor to rest or adjust because the monitor is too bright or something. Comfort is the first and most important consideration when choosing a monitor, at least for me, as I need to be able to view it comfortably for an extended period of time before settling on other factors like response time, input lag and so on . blah. If you can't look at your monitor comfortably, who cares if it has negative input lag and response time or what else you want from a monitor! One last tidbit: if you have an old Macbook Pro like I do, I think you should invest in upgrading to a Solid State Drive (SSD) and at least 8GB of RAM. This will make your car work just like the day you bought it and make your life so much easier. It's worth it. There are tons of guides on youtube - I used Sakitech because he used very clear and concise instructions.
