Review on 🎱 Premium Round Ice Cube Mold Set - Leak-Proof Silicone Sphere Ice Ball Makers for Whiskey, Scotch and Bourbon - Black by Vanessa Campbell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Simple and Efficient Ice Ball Making Machine - Balls aren't perfect, but they come close

Pros: - Well done - Easy (I use a standard measuring cup and pour straight into the fill hole at the top) - Fill line (wavy "water" lines) - best to fill just below the waterline in my experience - easy to remove ice balloons. Tabs make this easier (which, to my knowledge, isn't the case with some other projects). Ice tends to stick to the surface. Then it's easy to turn it over and hold the edge with your fingers and push the ball out with your thumbs. Cons: - Water fill line seems too high - Balls are not perfect balls (but close). There is usually a small ledge of ice where water enters between the two halves of the mold, as well as a small ledge of ice at the fill opening. However, based on what I've read, all ice cream ball makers do this, so I didn't count it. In addition, because the mold halves fit very closely together, the flange is fairly minimal, and fill warpage can be minimized with the right amount of fill. As with all other molds, the ball of ice formed is not crystal clear as seen in the pictures (more a function of the water used [reverse osmosis in my case] than mould). In addition, after some melting, the ice tends to crack, breaking off almost perfect quarter-spherical pieces. Judging from the comments I've read elsewhere, both forms are common to all forms, so I didn't count that form. I'm guessing (and it just is) that the transparency is a function of the purity of the water and can be played with if you're obsessed with it (but since reverse osmosis water is already pretty clean it may be). tricky). Cracks would be more difficult to repair but I suspect they are due to water expanding as it freezes rather than all of the water in the ball freezing at once. My guess is that letting the mold cool and periodically shaking or stirring the water before it freezes will likely result in a more crack-resistant ball of ice cream. For me I'm not that picky so they are great for my purposes.

Pros
  • Love drinking your favorite whiskey, vodka, tequila, gin or other alcoholic beverage on the rocks but don't want it watered down? These very large and beautiful round whiskey ice balls defrost more slowly and keep the drink colder for longer. It's physics!
Cons
  • Infinitely Sluggish
