I have a 100 year old house with a mail slot in an old wooden door. Cold air flows through it in winter and little can be done about it. I started looking for an old fashioned wire cage to attach to the inside of the door and catch the mail instead of spilling it on the floor. Unfortunately, the ones I found were either cheap and silly looking or overpriced because they were antiques. Post (so I don't have to keep picking them off the floor). It's simple and goes well with my red oak door. It fits EASILY in all my mail and magazines, and as an added bonus, mounting over the slot also reduces cold air intake even more! Of course, it doesn't offer any real thermal insulation, but I've definitely noticed a difference. In short, if you are considering this purchase, I highly recommend it!
