At some point, enabled cast iron dutch ovens became my go to tool for cooking almost everything. But their weight make them a chore at times, and so there's always a place for a lighter weight pot. This pot really fits that space.The construction is really good. And its light enough for my kids to handle (unlike a heavy dutch oven). The capacity is great - I have a big family and I need the volume. Of course there are many pots like this. The feature that sets this apart is a small one, but one I really like: you can adjust the venting. Yeah, that's it, but it's so handy. I do a lot of braising and I make a lot of stews. I like to be able to vent things so I can cook down the liquid. So having a pot I can adjust from no vent to venting means I can use it for anything from making pasta to pot roast. I like any tool that can be multi use like this one.The pour spout + strainer feature is also handy, though honestly I usually just use a big colander. I haven't used the roasting insert, but I may. I usually roast on top of some veggies, but I'm sure it will come in handy at some point. Overall this is a great pot to have in your kitchen. I highly recommend it.
