I've had a loud howl for years but it has always worked fine and everyone says the noise is normal. Lately I have not been able to get my boat to 3000rpm and have had trouble even getting on a plane. I changed spark plugs, wires, injectors, fuel, everything I could think of because my mechanic told me the fuel pressure was fine. I finally bought it, pretty easy to install and now it's quiet and has the same performance as the day I bought it. The fuel pump has a low-pressure side and a high-pressure side. Assuming your boat starts and runs fine and you can push that little Schrader valve on it and the gas will rush out, consider just replacing the high pressure side like I did. I've never been happier, especially after missing out on months of fun with crappy productivity and spending tons of money.
