This is a good knocker but the fittings supplied suggest you have a wooden door. They come with 2 screws which if you have a wooden door will hold the door knocker securely. But I have a metal door with foam. The included hardware will not work with a metal door. One way to install a hammer is to drill holes in the door and fasten it from the inside with nuts and bolts. I tried an easier way. I've used hollow door latches and they seem to be holding up well. You can then use the screws that came with the hammer. If the screw does not turn enough, insert a toothpick into the fastener and then insert the screw. Mine work fine and I didn't have to drill through the door and was able to use the hardware provided. .
