Mtn Bike rear shock scratched and not holding at all! Returned!

This item looked like it would work, but I couldn't get it to grab my mountain bike shock's air tank. The finish was similar to other items I would use this strap on. Hoping this would work, I wrapped the air tank in various types of tape to increase the coefficient of friction. It did not work. Yes, and the strap was installed the wrong way round, causing the rough side of the rivet to press against the air tank and scratch it like hell. I would not buy it again nor would I recommend it to a friend.
