My Gray Parrot loves to rip the strings on this toy; However, the pipes shown are made of plastic. I knew nothing about the risk associated with plastic. Birds' beaks cutting plastic result in very sharp edges. My Sid cut his tongue on a sharp piece of plastic last night. Bleeding for 2 hours straight trying to find an open vet clinic. I was absolutely helpless. The best I could do was calm her down and get her to tilt her head forward so the blood would flow out instead of running down her throat. Luckily it has finally stopped and she seems fine but I have a very expensive bill from the vet to sedate her and examine her tongue for the extent of the damage and antibiotics to prevent infection.
