This is a great little putting mat at a rock-bottom price (less than $8 at the time of purchase). The balls sometimes get stuck in the mechanism and the recoil motor sometimes gets weak when you quickly hit multiple balls in a row, but for the price, it's the perfect companion for indoor/winter/office workouts. I don't use a backstop (looks cheap, corrugated plastic) and putts rarely come off my back (thanks to "sand trap" and "impregnation"). One thing to note, due to the incline near the cup, it's easy to "push in" the shackles, which most likely won't fall off in the real world. The best liners for this mat are those that barely reach the cup.
