I bought this to use with my Raspberry Pi B model. I wish I had more powered USB ports and could use the power the device from the same hub. I am very happy to report that I got exactly what I wanted from this device. This simplifies the cables I already routed for my Raspberry Pi which I use on my home theater PC which has RaspBMC installed. BENEFITS: - Provides stable power supply that is not connected to any other computing device. It was exactly what I needed for my RaspPi setup. The very small form factor makes it easy to place out of sight, but it's large enough not to feel flimsy or cheap. A blue LED is present without the need to inflate. It's nowhere near as bright as some of the other products I've even received from the same company and I'm happy with that. I don't want something always glowing brightly in some applications, and it's also nice to be able to quickly see that it has power. Tip: If the light bothers you, it can be removed with a small strip of tape. No performance hits that sometimes come with hubs. I don't plug and unplug much while mine is running because the OS I'm using doesn't keep track of new USB devices all the time, but when I did it with cheaper hubs the performance on the rest of the slots dropped, so it could do. to cause problems in seconds. I noticed that this is not the problem here. Cons - There is still a blue LED. So if you really hate them and don't want to put a piece of tape on them, I think that might be a problem. - Still ends with a DC box at the end of the power cord. It focuses on being more convenient for power strips, but I've been saying this for a long time about all electronics, they should end in a regular plug and have the necessary DC/DC converter a few inches up front. I know you can buy small cables specifically for this, I just wish they weren't needed at all. This is just a general complaint about all electronics that do this; At least this one faces sideways so it doesn't block a bunch of other power ports. I was very happy with this product. If you need a powered USB hub for your Raspberry Pi and also don't want a separate power connector for the same device and your hub, this is a good choice.
