So let's talk about holes. I haven't had much experience with hole saws in the past so I was understandably concerned when I was looking for something to drill a 90mm hole in the outside wall of my house to install a mini split air conditioner. The prejudice against tools is that the cheaper, the worse the quality. I felt these saws were average for the price, but I became a bit concerned after reading other reviews. However, I gave it a try and decided the price was low enough to take the risk. I was surprised. Between this and two other items, a diamond saw and a matching mandrel adapter, I was able, albeit slowly, to cut 1/4" plaster, 1/4" lath of wood, 1/2" wood (with a nail along the cutting line). ) and 1/4" thick exterior plaster with built-in wire reinforcement with no loss of grit or teeth. This saw also cuts drywall with ease. *Important Note: Other reviews have mentioned that the teeth break too soon. I am happy to report that I did not lose a single tooth on this saw despite hitting a nail stuck in the wood at the saw line. If you do it slowly, you'll be fine. *I want to clarify a few things: I recommend sawing for wood/drywall/other soft materials due to the packaging and heat issues that can come with grit. . It handled a small amount of wood without too much trouble, and knocked out plaster (which looks more like concrete) and plaster with wire with relative ease. This carbide-tipped saw is better suited for soft materials. But above all, you MUST do it slowly. Don't force the saw to go any faster than it can on its own and make sure you hold the bit steady as it will push HARD when it hits the material, but it will get the job done. I look forward to using them again in the future for my second mini split setup.
