I believe. The belts on my 2001 Vette started to squeak (a common problem with C5s), especially on cold starts. This belt eliminates the noise/chirp when there is no problem with the idler pulley/harmonic equalizer. I took the car on a 3000 mile trip and the belts worked fine in the extreme cold (I live in Minnesota so if I have to leave the car for the winter it's been in the garage for half a year so take it I get the car out when I can, unless it's snowing or raining heavily). Did you determine it's a belt issue? If it squeaks, rub a bar of soap on the inside of the belt (baby powder works too), make sure you don't put anything on the pulleys or other moving parts. If this eliminates the squeak (temporarily) then it's very likely it's the belt. Now remove the strap. that all pulleys are good (not too loose and not too easy to turn), also check that the balance pulley is not loose and that all pulleys are properly aligned. If everything looks good, you're in luck. Replacing the belt with an alligator will most likely eliminate the belt squeak. It was a bit difficult to put the belt on as it was a bit tight. I also recommend changing the pulleys (at least grease them) after removing the belts.
