I like to use them and keep them in my tool box and I think they should be paid for. I appreciate being able to research them properly before buying, as opposed to those who like to just pop out of other people's tool bags. I think just letting people take the awl out of the tool bag has little to do with getting paid, and if I were asked to give a paying customer an inexpensive tool, I might or might not do it. This tool is absolutely as effective with a different colored pen and as long as I have it I am sure it will work properly and at a very competitive price. If I knew it wasn't what I expected I'd be more inclined to buy it locally than try to deal with an item from a grab bag. If there are differences between products regarding the color of the plastic handle then I will agree to that with prior notice unless it is intended for use with electrified components (it is not, but I do some electrical work).
