Everything I needed

That's a godsend. My apartment (a 1920's period building) has thin metal studs everywhere, so I use drywall anchors for everything I hang. The lowest anchors I use are galvanized ones that look like giant drill bits. Good for wall mirrors, framed pictures, hanging plants, etc. I meant something more. I recently won a big deal on a vintage wall. It's Scandinavian style where you put rails on the wall and then hang shelves, cabinets, tables and anything else you need on these rails. All the pieces are made from solid wood and as you can imagine this adds to the weight, especially when you start putting something on top! I first thought of cutting out a piece of drywall to fit a wooden base plate in the back. That. In the end I decided to use these anchor bolts directly into the drywall. Please note that this particular wall has newly installed 5/8" thick drywall which is a bit thicker than some and is in good condition. Whether it is thinner drywall or very old I might have reconsidered Installation was very easy, much easier than traditional butterflies. One thing to consider is that just like butterfly tumblers, you'll need some room to work *behind* the drywall to accommodate the tumbler's anchor head has to turn and grab the wall. In my case there was a lot of foam insulation behind the wall so I had to poke a bit with a screwdriver to make room. I chose to just fasten the latches and not the screws rather than ordering the screws separately. This allowed me to choose the color and length of the screws.I choose steel pan head machine screw, black oxide finish, conforming to ASME B18.6 .3, Phillips #2, thread size #10-24, 2" length, fully threaded, imported (50/pack). They looked a lot better than the unfinished silver screws that usually come with them. So far I haven't had any problems. I currently have 4 tracks supporting 4 heavy duty cabinets and a bookcase with glass doors. Not sure if I want to sit on them or store my lead collection in them, but they're great for storing plants, stereo lights, blankets, books, or anything else you might want to store. Highly recommended for my purposes.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
