Review on 💾 Seagate Backup Plus Portable 4TB External Hard Drive - Silver USB 3.0 for PC Laptop and Mac with MylioCreate, Adobe CC Photography, & 2-Year Rescue Service - STHP4000401 by Brian Graham

I needed a backup drive for all my video files as my old 1TB drive was full. I bought this drive because it had the lowest percentage of bad reviews about a drive failing as it was my #1 problem. Most of the bad reviews concerned the low transfer speed. I paid an extra $3 to get silver over black thinking it would have more metal in it, which it does. Silver is an aluminum pad on the disc. Black is a plastic that is not only thinner, but also allows the drive to run hotter. Aluminum conducts heat well. I don't understand why they don't make all these things out of aluminum. I was expecting to have to format the drive, but it worked right away on my MacBook Pro and almost instantly on my PC desktop (it took a minute for the drivers to install automatically). Without formatting, I was able to use it on Mac and PC. I don't have Seagate software installed. I've measured actual write speeds for PC and Mac and they both average 80-100MB/s. It was much faster than my old 1TB drive, so I was pleasantly surprised with this drive. I've only used it for one day so I'll update if there are any problems in the next few years.
