Review on π DB Electrical AND0158 Alternator: Toyota 4Runner1996-1998, T100 Truck 1997-1998, Tacoma 1997-1999 - Compatible Replacements by Jeff Rubio
Does the job and makes a big difference.
Shops were very skeptical about the price of this alternator but I bought it and did the work myself saving hundreds of dollars in parts and labor. I've been driving for two months with no problems. One thing to note, I also had to buy expensive new connector wire ends from a Toyota dealer and then laboriously solder them to the original wires.
