This is a jute rug and it is not meant to be soft, so don't buy it thinking it will be soft. This is an excellent quality burlap, jute and seaweed rug that has stood the test of time in my busy hallway. It didn't break or break. It usually stays in place due to the backing and is of good quality and heavy weight. I'm really surprised that the rug has been in daily wear for almost a year given the low price. It looks the same as when it was first rolled out. Being a natural fibre, it had an algae smell but that went away after a few weeks and initially wasn't a bad smell as it is a natural smell not plastic or chemicals. Overall I really recommend this rug, just be sure to study the texture of the rug, maybe in a shop, and learn how to look after it. Vacuum regularly and everything is fine!
