I'm tired of spending $30 on big bottles of MSR fuel. One day I was in a thrift store and saw a large SIGG aluminum water bottle. Since the SIGG is machined from a single piece of aluminum, including the threads, I paid $1.99, took it home, filled it halfway with white gas, and hooked up my Primus pump to it, and it fit perfectly. I gave it 100 pumps and let it sit overnight and it ran without a drop of fuel. I then grabbed my modified MSR Firefly stove, which I screwed onto the valve to use dueling fuel. Filled the stove and turned on the gas and it burned as it should. Note: The new MSR pumps do not work, they have a wide flange like the MSR Childproof Cap. The threads are the same, but the SIGG bottle has a wider neck than the MSR bottle and will not clean and seal it tightly. Fit old MSR pumps they didn't have. Flange. So why am I talking about SIGG water bottles and MSR Exped caps? Simple, they fit and the fuel will not melt the cap like a drinking cap will.
