Review on DMT 2 Inch Dia Sharp Mini Hone Coarse by Dre Fishburne

Absolutely normal. in Power and Hand Tools

The stones are great and I can't say anything bad about them. I ordered XX coarse to bevel again; It's a beast, and it can grind metal at an alarming rate. Coarse sharpening is good when you have chips on the blade and need a little sharpening, but I usually just use fine and then X-fine to sharpen. This kit allows me to achieve a nice matte mirror finish before hitting the belt. Better for medium sized blades than the largest/smallest knives. I'm having trouble sharpening my Old Timer pocket knife and Opinel #6 because the blades are so thin that the guide rail meets the clip at a 17 degree angle. Also has trouble with chef's knives over 5" or 6", simply because the physics are a design limitation rather than a flaw. Another issue is a common problem with most control systems that pinch the blade: fully flat ground blades like Tenacious or Opinels. will not seat properly and will sharpen unevenly without additional attention. I partially solved this problem by applying masking tape to the pinched area and paying special attention to the position of the blade when sharpening. Aside from the above issues, it was a great system. I can get a razor blade every time with almost any of my medium-sized knives. However, this isn't foolproof, so remember you still need to have some idea of what you're trying to do (create a ridge and then fold). Works best with knives with a wider blade and square shaft.
