The switch does not fit snugly into the mounting plate on the brake pedal assembly on my 1997 Ram 1500. Activity. It stayed in place for a while but after some movement I got out of the truck and the brake lights came on. I checked and the switch was no longer sitting in the bracket, just hanging by the wires. I reinstalled the device several times and kept using the truck, but after the fourth time I gave up as it drained my battery and left me stranded. I have a 1995 Ram 1500 and also a 1997 Ram 1500 so in 1995-1997 I replaced a known good OEM switch that used a stock engine switch and in 1997 there were no more problems with the OEM switch but in 1995 I do same now. I bought a replacement thinking it might be a bad part but same problem with the second switch. Compared to the OEM switch, the four tabs on the OEM switch are lower than the standard engine switch, allowing the OEM switch to fully engage the bracket. I could try filing four tabs down but it's not worth just returning the product and ordering an OEM.
