Review on Fel-Pro 23591 Exhaust Flange Gasket: Superior Seal for Optimal Exhaust Performance by Josh Lewis

did an excellent job

I know, I know, it's just a gasket. Well, if you've ever had a crash or a leak, you might say otherwise. Over the years I've had a ton of pads from different vendors - general purpose, "premium performance", super high performance pads. Decades ago, Fel-Pro materials never stopped disappointing. One of my best reports was of the hard use of valve cover gaskets on an old buggy with a Beetle engine - the Fel-Pro gaskets were the only ones that were sealed. Note that this was an old design with cables holding the covers to a horizontally mounted, water-cooled, flat 4, boxer engine for attachment. Either way, preventing exhaust leaks is just as important as it is with liquids, perhaps even more important as carbon monoxide can kill you. . In my case, this seal is only clamped in a two-hole flange, so it should be able to properly "spread" laterally, and it does that excellently. As long as the diameter is right for your application and you tighten the nuts and bolts properly, you should be fine. And by "right" I mean just the load sharing between the bolt flanges - no crazy torque wrench stuff or anything - the gasket design is so good it just (in my opinion) isn't needed.

Pros
  • Gaskets
Cons
  • Repair
