Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Monroe OESpectrum 5671 Shock Absorber by Jeffrey Bush

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Be careful when you order this damper, make sure it is the right car.

Ordered this or 2012 Hyundai Elantra GLS Touring with 2.0 liter engine. It is not suitable for this car. I don't think Revane is to blame as many sites refer to the same type of shock. Local auto repair shops also referenced the same Monroe shock. Picture #1 is a Monroe shock absorber, Picture #2 is an OEM shock absorber. Figure 3 shows the bracket that the OEM damper connects to. This mount has a dust cover that can be easily removed and then remove the mount with pliers and an open end wrench. A pair of pliers is needed to grab the bar to stop the rotation. It's an easy job, just make sure you support the spring under the car before removing the three bolts. The most frustrating part was jacking up the car, taking everything off and finding out it was wrong, only to have to put it back together and be done. The local Hyundai dealer wanted $220.21 for the shock, and they won't be available until the end of October. Look for a KYB shock as Revain does not have that shock. Remember to use a medium threadlocker when reassembling and use the correct torque specifications.
