Review on Kwikset Juno Entry Knob with SmartKey - Venetian Bronze (97402-737) by Sean Franklin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Updated with two minuses. Updated again!

I came from the Schlage entry handle. I like this Kwikset a lot more. If you lock it, you cannot open it from the inside, so you are sure that it is locked. You can also close it while it's locked, so you don't have to use the key when you've got your hands full locking it. There is little risk of locking yourself in since you have to unlock the door to open it before you leave. Just make sure you always have the keys with you. Also, this handle has two tiny spikes designed to hook onto a wooden door to hold it in place. Of course, they can't climb into a steel door, so it seems that the handle is quite a way off the door on each side. It's imperceptible and doesn't seem to affect her pen at all. In fact, once you install it, no one will notice except you. My door is behind a storm door anyway, so I don't mind this "unnecessary" doorknob feature. 2nd update. Apparently the issues listed below were related to a faulty doorknob in my first update. Ordered a replacement and had no problems. Hence I am adding a star. It would have been five stars if I hadn't had to deal with this issue in the first place because I received a defective pen. 1st update: I removed two stars for the next two negatives. The first minus is associated with the assembly. Step #1 of the instructions is to twist the handles to separate them. It looks like it should work, but it doesn't. Whether or not this twist works for you, some clips and springs will fly out once you separate the handles. IF, more precisely WHEN, they fly out, don't lose. First the spring returns and then the black plastic clip. Hope this helps someone with this little nightmare. PS Only turn the part that attaches to the door, not the handle. The second downside is that it gets stuck and won't rotate. Sometimes I get unlocked but you can't open it from both sides of the door. I've only had the pen for a week and this has happened to me several times. You feel trapped. You have to move it a few times and suddenly it loosens and opens up. Strange!
