Very nice, exceeded all expectations!

Just received today and very happy with it at first glance. The quality is better than I expected and it fits my car (Ford Crown Victoria) very well. First of all, I value durability, simplicity, and utility over fancy designs and quality materials. This console is exactly what I like - functionality first, as well as an understated, understated aesthetic. . It's soft and smooth, with foam padding underneath. The armrest has much thicker padding and is very comfortable. The structure itself appears to be made of lightweight plywood or composite panels. The whole device is very light for its size. It's durable and holds its shape well, apart from a slight bend on the sides of the main compartment, which shouldn't be a problem with normal use. The inside of the main compartment is lined with black velvet. I ordered a gray console because it looked more like a tan in the photos. When I received it I found that it was actually a light gray color that didn't match the interior of my car at all. I will switch to black. SECURITY: The locking mechanism is metal and securely fastened to the inside of the console. I wouldn't expect this to deter a determined burglar, but it might deter a burglar in a hurry. A lock is a good visual deterrent. Below the cup holders are two "hidden compartments" - a large one in the front and one in the lid, big enough to hold cash or other small thin items. PRACTICE: This console doesn't prioritize form over function, which I appreciate. The armrest is at the right height. The rectangular shape and square design make the best use of space and maximize interior space. Cup holders are conveniently located for front and rear passengers. The coin holder is not really needed in my opinion, but seems quite useful. Which brings me to my only complaints: the sunglass holder is made out of very thin plastic and is a bit difficult to open. It's also quite small and doesn't fit my sunglasses. Luckily it's easy to remove, and behind it is a large space where you can install a radio, inverter, switches, or something even more useful. My second complaint is that the rear cup holders are built into the lid, so you can't open the lid without spilling the drinks that are there. I rarely have passengers in the back seat, but I see this being a problem for those who do. Overall I am very impressed with this console. It exceeded my expectations and I think the price I paid ($69.99) was very fair.
