Installation preliminary report only Documentation is extensive and well printed in the form of manuals for each component as well as online. Telephone technical support is available at a reasonable cost. (Hold for 5 to 10 minutes) Comes well packaged and comes with almost everything needed for installation, more details later. Because the cables are so short you MUST give serious thought to how all the components will fit your boat, the only wiggle room is for the sensor which can be installed with a cable extension from the helm station. The location of the pump is limited by the length of the wiring (12 volts) to the ACU). Hydraulic hoses, this seems impractical to DYS, not sure how it's possible to use existing hoses to fit a T. One of the helpful C-Brats blogs quotes a Seastar specialist relocating the T-fittings to the rudder pump and it works better. Now I have all the components installed (except for the display unit I need to find a permanent place in a crowded navigation station). CONS OF THIS KIT Plumbing parts not included? except 3 converters for the pump. to the storage facility. No pump to steering pump connecting hoses, plan to order these for an additional $100 if not available locally. These hoses consist of two high pressure and apparently low pressure hoses to return/vent air to the visible bladders. ACU power cord not included, requires 14-16 gauge 12v marine cord plus panel connections. The costs are minimal. When installing the sensor and bracket, the included stainless steel screws show minimal magnetic field (I tested it), I'm not sure how important this is, so just to be safe I replaced the mounting screws with nylon and aluminum screws from my local hardware store, I guess I'm going to the extreme, but for pennies, dammit. I booted the system and waited for the screen reader to come out but was too tired to calibrate/run the wizard. IMPRESSION. This is my second attempt at autopilot, I had to install Lowrance first, seduced by the lower cost, sadly confronted with the lack of software from Lowrance to integrate the system and remove and return the device, see my review. The cost is almost the same considering this device will cost around $1,500? Adding hoses etc compared to Lowrance at around $1000 per unit plus a cheaper display would a 5 inch non-touch HDS 2Gen be around $500 without software? and on the go, works super very satisfied
