Review on Pawtitas XS Teal Lumberjack Padded Martingale Dog Collar With Reflective Band For Maximum Visibility, Comfort And Safety - Fits Small & Large Dogs by Stephen Hobbs

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Clearly made by people who don’t have dogs and don’t understand how martingale collars work

Martingale Collars 101: Like slip collars, the purpose of a martingale collar is to provide a real-time means of correction during leash training, via a short, quick tug on the leash. On a slip collar and half-martingale collar, this is achieved by attaching to the leash to loop at one end of the chain; attaching the leash at any other point on the collar would not tighten the chain and thus would render the collar useless for its intended purpose. Full martingale collars substitute a loop of fabric in place of the chain used in a half-martingale; corrections are achieved by attaching the leash to a ring on the outside of this loop of fabric, and giving it a short quick tug, causing it to tighten briefly. As with a slip collar and half-martingale, attaching the leash at any other point would not result in the loop tightening, and thus would render the key feature of martingale collars totally useless. Bizarrely, these collars not only place the loop for attaching the leash in the wrong place, they also feature a size-adjustable clasp that goes *over* the loop to which the leash is supposed to be attached in order for the collar to function properly. If it were possible to give zero stars, that would be my rating
