I bought these because they must be OEM quality. I was happy with my original pads, but after 8 years and 80,000km I decided to change the brakes. They were in good condition but as I had parts and brakes I only changed the pads. I put in Monroe pads and fifteen months later the bums were gone. I've done dozens if not hundreds of brake jobs and I'm not impressed that the rear brake pads are all metal. and as a result had to replace my rotors. Interestingly, the front brake pads were like new. So back to those pads. It usually takes me about an hour to change all four brakes on a car. I only spent an hour on the right front brake because of these pads. I installed four different pads each in the front right caliper. The pads came with stainless steel anti-vibration caliper clamps. I removed the new clips and reinstalled the old clips to make sure the new clips are ok. I was able to install the pads in the calipers, but it was like putting a round pin in a square hole. Since I had problems with the rear pads and the anti-vibration clamps, I reworked the setup. Unfortunately it was now dark and cold and I could hardly feel my hands. As it turned out, the pads were too tall to fit in the calipers, which were caught in rustproof clips. I pulled the pads back out, took the pads on my grinding wheel and sanded about 30 seconds off an inch from both ends of the steel brace the pads are glued to, then put the brakes back together. The brake pads now fit into the brake calipers without clamping. It took me about 15 minutes on the left, but even after lapping, those pads didn't fit perfectly. I really don't think you need to use a metal grinder for new pads to get the pads to fit on the calipers. And yes, I checked several websites and they had the correct pads for my 2003 Chevy Avalanche. The pads themselves seem to work well. They're very quiet, very smooth, and stop within what I think is a reasonable distance with limited pedal input. Read my Akebono ACT834 review for more information on this brake repair.
