Review on πŸ”§ Bora Portamate PM-3500: The Ultimate Industrial Strength Universal Rolling Mobile Base to Effortlessly Move Your Heaviest Power Tools by Joshua Paulson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wow, wow, wow - great base!

Several stationary power tools in my shop have mobile HTC base stations. I always thought they were the gold standard - welded well, fit perfectly and have worked great for years. But HTC seems to have settled for an adjustable all-in-one base design that just doesn't feel strong or durable enough for heavy loads. So I tried this PortaMate PM-3500. WOW! The base rails and corners are about 50% larger in height and width than my trusty old HTCs, and the metal is about 50% thicker. Fit and finish are excellent. All fittings are of good quality (metric, BTW). Wheels on ball bearings and not only in the axis of rotation (seems normal) but also in the axis! When was the last time you saw an axle with ball bearings on rollers? Both sides of the axle of each roller are supported by sealed ball bearings. This thing is a tank and can handle the weight of my cast iron grinder while skating across the floor like skates without breaking a sweat. It's clearly made in China, which you can tell by the box, instructions, hardware, and packaging, but the quality is great.

Pros
  • EASY GLIDE + LOCK LEVER: Easy-to-use, foot-operated locking levers securely lock the steel glide base in place. When it's time to move, the 3-inch wheels and ball-bearing casters ensure a smooth and effortless glide.
Cons
  • Empty
