Love love love this heater for my 5 gallon Betta aquariums. I set it to 82* and my tanks are consistently at 80* day and night. I like my room to be freezing with the help of a fan, so I factor that into the temperature variance. I use a small sponge filter/air stone with minimal flow. I read about this in another review and would like to draw your attention to it. My little snow white rooster, whom I had treated (and almost cured!) for swim bladder disease, was overly curious and fried. Rest in peace Hedwig. It's not about if one of your fish gets too close to you, it's about when. Close the side vents. I used plastic skein holders that I bought at a hobby store. Another reviewer mentioned the plastic mesh on the washcloths. Otherwise great product! I am completely satisfied. The temperature is consistent and reliable, so I don't mind setting it two degrees above what I want.
