Review on Enhance Engine Performance with GM Genuine Parts MU1738 Fuel Pump, Level Sensor Module, Seal, and Float by Jason Daves

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works as advertised, solved my problem and saved me $800.

I ordered this for my 2002 Avalanche after it broke down on the freeway and would not start. I was concerned there was a different model listed for my truck, but I settled on this one. The dealer asked $1,100 for this work, while PepBoys asked $850 for an aftermarket pump. For a 160,000 mile truck, I agreed it needed a fuel pump, but I wouldn't pay that much money at Christmas to fix it. already changed once (to an Airtex brand pump). I had a moment installing a new pump in the tank and it didn't seem to fit. Thankfully, this one has two spring-loaded guide rods that allow it to compress while still making contact with the bottom of the tank. There was no filter/strainer at the bottom of the tank, which bothered me, but a call to the auto parts store convinced me that the ACDelco part contained an internal filter. You will need to reuse or purchase fuel line quick disconnects as they do not come with this pump.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Minor repairability
