Works the way I wanted it to! Just like me 12 years ago. Raise or lower the ratchet at any time while riding. Great entertainment if you just want to shift into gear while cruising. Feels very strong. One complaint about the shifter cable. Very small screws. The metal for them is unthreaded so they snap easily, which is why I have a dead selector switch. It's sad to see that in 12 years they still haven't improved on this.
