Review on 🍳 HIC Harold Import Co. Stainless Steel Heat Diffuser Reducing Flame Guard Simmer Plate, 8.25 x 15.75-inch by Ryan Barton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Simple, durable and relatively inexpensive

We have been using this "HIC.heat Diffusor Reducer heating plate" since February (2019). Used on gas stoves for stews, soups, pasta and pizza sauces and to clarify butter (ghee) to good effect. The good thing is that it is stainless steel. Some discoloration is noticeable, but this is not a personal issue. There was no noticeable deformation, the diffuser was used almost every day. There is a learning curve associated with using a diffuser on a gas range (e.g., flame size, cookware composition (stainless steel, aluminum, copper, alloy)). The reason for the four stars is that the metal and plastic handle is long enough. It also gets in the way when other pots/pans/pans are used on the stove. One reviewer suggests removing the handle, and then once it's cooled remove the diffuser. If the manufacturer has redesigned the handle so that it doesn't get in the way, it deserves five stars. The product is made in China. Quality control is one of the main issues related to the products manufactured there, so quality and mileage may vary with this caveat. "Gift "? by itself I don't think so, unless it's part of a package of kitchen appliances or utensils.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • too stupid
