The only flame tamer I've ever bought.

I saw this recommendation on one of the real cooking shows many years ago so I bought two of these. That was over 20 years ago and they did very, very well. I bought four more, two for me and two for my mother-in-law. I've tried some others, with wooden handles (very bad idea!), other shapes, other styles of handles. None of them work properly, they either fall apart or don't fold properly. This model works great! and they do what they have to do. Help maintain the cooking under the pot and…

Not suitable for coffee pots on the stove!

I give 5 stars because it is very well made. For such an inexpensive diffuser, it is quite suitable. I've been using it daily over a powerful gas stove for two weeks now. Two-layer construction means the top helps dissipate heat for the hot underside. It changes color with each use. This thermal patination is for you. This is not the right item if you have a large burner grate and a tiny moka pot and want to balance your small pot over the flame. This is well suited for long-term heat…

Great price for a practical item! I bought two.

NOT "made of aluminum" which suits me. The first thing I did was put a magnet on the object and it stuck. No part of this article is made of aluminum. Actually, I didn't want aluminum. I used to have almost the same flame arrestors. All of them work well as diffusers. In the end, thin metal gives off heat and overheating. Metal doesn't hold up that much, over the years it warps and cracks and falls apart. I think about ten years passed between each exchange. I've spent some time researching and

Simple, durable and relatively inexpensive

We have been using this "HIC.heat Diffusor Reducer heating plate" since February (2019). Used on gas stoves for stews, soups, pasta and pizza sauces and to clarify butter (ghee) to good effect. The good thing is that it is stainless steel. Some discoloration is noticeable, but this is not a personal issue. There was no noticeable deformation, the diffuser was used almost every day. There is a learning curve associated with using a diffuser on a gas range (e.g., flame size, cookware composition…

A unique, fun way to change the way you cook

I've had a heat diffuser for years and it's just starting to wear out! I've replaced it with a couple more expensive than this one from HIC Harold Import but they didn't last long. Either the handle is badly screwed, or the diffuser is not mounted evenly. I love this one from HIC. He is perfect! It works great and I can say I will have it for many years to come. Until I have to replace it, it costs a penny a month. Don't put it in the dishwasher or soak it under water and they'll last for…
