Same size as the fitting on a 1 7/8" " Hose or extension pipe. They won't fit. Here's an easy way to get the 2 1/2" to 1 7/8" adapter working. Take a pot, pour about 2 inches of water in it, and bring that Boil water. Take the adapter and place it 1 7/8" END DOWN IN BOILING WATER. Leave in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Because the adapter is made of hard rubber, heat softens the rubber, making it easy to stretch when working on the end of a 1 7/8" hose or extension fitting. This makes it a perfect fit for us. Pour something cold Water it in. It cools down and the adapter will hold its stretched shape. The result is a 2 1/2" to 1 7/8" working adapter. No need to settle for a heat gun or use a blowtorch. Hard rubber will stretch slightly off after heating.
