This is a very good product, especially if you are looking for something simple and easy to clean. Of course you can always go cheaper and buy sand, but I recommend if you do it with sand to lightly cover the bottom because the sand will attract mites and other weird little hopping little mosquito-like creatures that pop up in your tank, so it is definitely a safer alternative and you don't have to worry about the substrate. However I would recommend if there are two of you buying this product because when you take one out to clean it needs to dry before putting it back in and all I need is hot water. and the first time he cleaned himself very well. I've had this in my tank for a month now and I just cleaned it in the picture below how it looks now after cleaning it. Didn't really put much effort into it other than boiling hot water under the sink and throwing rocks outside. To keep it from deflating and keeping the carpet flat I would also recommend getting some soft bristles to scrape up any unnecessary stuff so you don't waste water, this requires no chemicals to clean and I spent $8 on it was well worth it . That I just wish I had another one. The only problem I really have is that it shrinks as it dries so the stones lay on it while it dries.
