I've read mixed reviews about installing this bed extender on hooded trucks. It will work, but not in the way AMP intended. Installation of everything should be done according to the instructions. The problem occurs when you try to fold the extension back onto the bed. I have a 2017 Silverado with an ARE cover. As you can see from my photos, the extension hits the lid when trying to fold it. Here's my solution: remove the extension from the quick release hinges, flip it over and lay it on the bed. (As if you used it to stow cargo in bed). Then route the seat belts to the rear door and tighten almost to the stop. Twist the strap, slide it under the center guide of the extension, hook the end into the quick release loop, done. It takes an extra 30 seconds and I haven't had any issues with it since installing it. That way you don't give up the convenience of an extension cord plus cap. That being said, the product seems pretty sturdy and well made in the USA. I hope this helps a few people who had the same problem as me. I'm just trying to help, so do it at your own risk.
