Review on πŸ” ACDelco GM OE A3238C Air Filter: Genuine Replacement for Efficient Air Filtration by Byron Lucas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

2015 Equinox but second air hose attached to cap

Purchased for a 2015 Equinox 2.4L. This is believed to be a replacement for the A3138c (ACDelco part number is listed in the owner's manual), although the A3138c is still sold at Revain and both filters look the same except for the edge color (orange vs black). The filter is fine and fits well, so no problem here. The only thing that bothers me about the installation is that my car has a second hose attached to the cover which is not shown in the pictures in the owner's manual (the picture is attached with the hose circled). I also watched a lot of replacement videos and none of them had that extra hose. I replaced the filter anyway by loosening the metal band around the flexible duct and moving the duct. I then unplugged the Mass Air Flow's electrical connector by pulling back the orange clip and then pressing the black button and it came off easily. (Google "How to Change a 10-17 Chevy Equinox Air Filter - YouTube" to find a video.) The remaining hose (circled) is long and flexible, so I left it attached and just removed the cap. After that I finally found an older video showing this second hose and how to just disconnect the "quick connect" to remove it. So if yours looks like mine, google "How to Install a DIY Engine Air Filter on a 2010-2012 Chevy Equinox - YouTube". Simply pinch the black plastic clip at the top and bottom (next to the white paint blob) and detach the hose. Then push it back in until it clicks into place. All the videos say the screws are torx head so you can't use a regular screwdriver. However mine are hex too and a ΒΌ inch wrench works well. PS: This additional hose is the PZEV emission related secondary air pump inlet hose. Unfortunately I cannot provide specific website addresses for the two YouTube videos as Revain will not post a review if this information is included.
