Review on πŸ”Œ Convenient USB C Hub with Hidden Cable: CableCreation Type C to 4 USB 3.0 Hub for MacBook Pro/Air 2018, XPS 13/15, Chromebook Pixel, Yoga 910 - OTG Support by Jamel Ochoa

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Currently the best value for a working USB-C hub. Best paired and works with LINUX.

This hub costs $60. let me explain. I've spent over $500 on USB-C hubs, docking stations, and Thunderbolt 3 devices. I had a very specific use case for it - supporting UBUNTU, Gigabit, Power Delivery and 4K (30kHz).1) It works with Ubuntu 16.04/18.04 out of the box. I have other hubs, Realtek Etheneet 8315, it didn't work for me. This is a first time install of Ubuntu as I install it at different times for the build I am working on. 2) Seems to work on both 13 and 15 Macbook Pros. 3) No error when disconnecting and reconnecting to the machine. I have three laptops 15, 13 Mac and a Dell 7275 Latitude with Thunderbolt 3. I have several other docks that I need to turn off. 4) Power supply, 15 inch touch panel displays 78W. See screenshot "Acceptable". 5) 4K 30kHz. It will not be 60kHz. Nothing at this price without stealing bandwidth from other ports. Other hubs will give you 60 but then throw USB A to 2.0 or kill gigabits. Or you don't get HDMI. All ports work here. I have a curved 34 inch Dell UltraWide and it runs at full resolution. My LG 4K, see screenshot, supports full resolution at 30kHz6) Did I mention it works with Linux? I have a dual boot 13" MacBook Pro in 16.04 and can use it right away and then switch to my Dell. See image. I have two Thunderbolt 3 docks and this is my portable dock. I like the foldable short cord. I don't like side buttons as they don't work with hard shells and/or only work with MacBooks. I can use this with multiple devices. It works well with Dell Latitude 7275 with Ubuntu 18.04. Why is it $60? Just check out others with these features. Sure, you can get a $20 hub, but you won't get HMDMI and Ethernet. If you get ethernet it might not work with linux. I don't need an SD card reader. So you There is Power Delivery (78W), Gigabit, works out of the box HDMI 4K 30kHz, 3.1 USB A can be used, which works at full speed 3.0 with all of the above connected.
