Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Improved Edelmann 92124 Power Steering Pressure Line Hose Assembly by Tim Paolucci

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits my 2006 F-150 5.4L Flex Fuel Truck

It worked and after replacing the old hose I had no problems with leaks after installation. Keep in mind that removing the old hose on one end is extremely difficult as the threaded connection seemed to stick after your truck has been running for a while. I recommend cutting off the old hose right at the fitting. (I used pliers and just cut a little at a time, then moved the cord back and forth like I was prying a coat hanger until it broke.) After that, I used a 3/4" deep hex socket to pull the old fitting (it's a slightly larger than the matching head which was 11/16" but still had metal on the fitting that I had to mount a socket around). I first attempted this fitting with a small wrench pry it out but it never moved and all I ended up doing was almost sanding the head of the fitting until it was almost completely rounded off so I cut it off and used a hex head, that's really what I recommend. After that, use steering fluid on the threads and dip any o-rings you get in the fluid before you put them on to make sure they seal well Threading a new line with the set screws a Getting in the same spot can be quite tricky, but that's not due to the cord itself, it's because the parallel threads are made in such a way that you have to start them by hand. After the new fitting got stuck a bit, I had to use a socket extender and a hammer to tap the fitting lightly to get it to bite all the way and screw it on properly. If you've been using your truck for a while, simply cut off the old pipe and pull it out of the threaded connector - this is really going to take up most of your time. Good luck replacing that line because it took me about 4 hours total just to remove the old line. The Ford engineer who came up with this fitting needs to check the head. They should have used a Swagelok compression tube fitting instead of that flared thread crap.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Hard to tell
