Review on πŸ”§ Versatile Clamping Tool: Positioning Aluminum Woodworking Carpenter for Enhanced Accuracy by Brett Morrison

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nearly perfect accuracy, very high quality materials and workmanship

Media failed to load. Aluminum clamping angles are amazingly versatile for woodworking. I have used and reviewed multiple brands, sizes and designs over the years. Like clamps, you never have enough on hand for complex assembly work. At the same time, the prices for brands are outrageously high. And based on my experience with both, I don't see much of a difference between the expensive brands and all the latest imports that tend to cost a lot cheaper. I mainly use them to keep things straight when assembling and gluing. They are also excellent for calibrating tools, fixtures and fittings. The most important aspect of the quality of this tool is that they rotate precisely 90 degrees. I checked each of them for squareness with my digital goniometer. As you can see in the video they are almost perfect. within 0.001" on either side of both squares. Other similar squares I've reviewed aren't as good, but are still surprisingly accurate. The anodized aluminum material is strong yet lightweight. I expect they'll hold that accuracy for a very hold up for a long time.Although they can flex a bit under heavy clamping force, I usually use other heavy duty bar clamps to pull the links together and just use them with spring clamps or smaller quick release bar clamps to keep everything straight while the glue dries 4 clips are pretty much good but i will probably never use them. They are more difficult to use than a regular spring clip. Too time consuming to install. That the angled rod has more than 90 degree threads. You can see it in one of the photos I attach them. I have put them in a vise and secured them, but I still doubt I'll ever get clammy ern will use, I want more production machines, or just rule them out, or make it an option to lower the price of the squares. Overall, these clamping angles are of good quality. Material and workmanship are excellent. Accuracy is close to ideal, and that's the main thing. I like high quality and high precision tools that have a positive impact on my woodwork. These squares (no clips) are a proud addition to my collection.
