I have had several TomTom devices and this is the second VIA 1515 TM that I have bought. I wanted one for each vehicle to ensure a familiar result for each vehicle. While I use my smartphone for many quick trips, longer trips are much easier with TomTom. First, the screen size is better and the images are much better than smartphone maps. TomTom also allows you to choose an alternative route. The TomTom is easy to install and is usually kept in the car (I'll admit I forgot my phone a couple of times). TomTom also displays additional information such as free lanes, speed limits, light-protected intersections, nearby stops such as restaurants, gas stations, etc.
