Review on Satechi 12-Port USB Hub with Power Adapter & 2 Control Switches for MacBook Pro, iMac, Surface Pro, Dell XPS, PC and More (2015 MacBook Pro, 2014 MacBook Compatible) by Shane Tomko

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Reliable USB connections with lots of ports.

I have bought 5 of these hubs for my various computers and am happy with each one. Communication with the computer is very reliable. (My previous hub turned itself off when I plugged it in - what a pain!) One end of the hub is a small "pigtail" with a USB connector. At the opposite end of the hub is USB port 12. This design makes it easy to daisy chain multiple ports. Connect it to your computer with the included USB extension cable - just plug one end into the pigtail and the other end into your computer's USB port. I have a hub on the floor behind my computer to connect printers, modems, external drives, and anything that can't be turned off. I also have a second hub on my desk to connect cell phones, keys, mice and other readers. The length of the included USB extension cable is suitable for the floor hub as it is close to the USB ports on the computer. However, I had to buy a longer USB extension cable to connect the hub to the top of the desk. The hub works great with a longer USB extension cable. There are no problems with the length of the power cable, especially on the desktop port. The backlit ports make it easy to connect devices, especially if you have the hub in dark places like under a desk. There are 2 switches to power the ports. So if you only use half of the ports, you can turn off the unused ones. Eleven of the 12 ports are accessible from the top of the hub for easy access. The twelfth port is at the end of the hub, making it easy to daisy chain multiple hubs.
