When used with the OTC 6494 Small Rack Clamp Spring Compressor it does not fully engage the holders. It's at an odd angle that doesn't allow the spring to be compressed directly (making it very difficult to put back together). I used it on an old Toyota Camry and it was NOT safe. Note: The instructions were followed to the last detail and it still took some creativity to get it working. However, it is a good reliable tool. If there is another way besides the clamshell compressor, it can be very useful. I had to buy a cheap screw compressor.
