When I got the rack I didn't like the plastic brackets (seemed cheap). But after only 5 minutes of installation on a Subaru Outback, they seemed reliable. I packed three snowboards in the trunk and drove 8 hours to Snowshoe WV. Driving conditions reached 75-80 mph. The wind in the mountains reached 40 m/s. It was pouring rain. And also drove about 40 miles through a winter storm before we reached our destination. Although the counters were frozen when we arrived, they opened immediately. A week later we drove back 8 hours with no problems. Solid racks are much cheaper than known racks.
