Initially I thought my thermometer was 5°C / 8°F wrong and as the number board is taped to the inner glass tube there is no way to recalibrate it. However, while writing this review I did a little research and it turned out that the thermometer was right and I was wrong; My mistake was thinking that water always boils at 100°C or 212°F, but I've found that this is heavily affected by altitude. In my case, I'm in Guadalajara, Mexico, and my elevation is about 1544 m/5065 ft. So, according to this chart I found online, water should boil at 95°C or 203°F, and my readings were accurate 😊 So, 5 stars for the product and the enlightenment received... Hope this helps someone else.
