Review on πŸ”¨ Deckfast Fascia Tool by Starborn by Joe Greiner

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good idea, poorly implemented

This tool is unfortunately a little needed to install decking. While the basic concept is great, there are a few shortcomings that turn what is actually a very handy tool into one that can be used when needed. First, there is only a small hole in the side of the body for chips to exit through. Because of the way the composite material is cut, the chips tend to be quite large and do not fall out through the hole, causing debris within the body. Blowing out a hole in the case after each hole drilled will prevent problems with it. More open apartments would be a better idea. Second, the edge of the tool that creates the recess for the screw head isn't sharp, so it just scrapes off the material rather than cutting it. This leaves the edge of the hole messy and takes much longer to drill than it actually does. It also generates a lot of heat in the tool, so cleaning up the aforementioned chips can be a bit of a pain. Finally, the drill itself is a bit longer than necessary. It's not a big deal, but it's quite annoying when you try to pre-drill a board before lifting it into place.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings about it, it's ok
