Review on Klein Tools D213-9NE Pliers: High Leverage 9-Inch Side Cutters for Cutting Copper, Aluminum & Soft Metals by David Hill

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's no good for me for the pliers

I don't understand why people are praising this style of pliers! I'm not American which may be why I'm not used to such heavy and big pliers, I mean they're not even 9 inches they're 9.5 inches but oh my god they're so hefty and uncomfortable to use and also very hard . I also have a Japanese brand KTC 8 inch pliers, it is lighter, better grip and insulating rubber, very smooth and comfortable to use. I can't hold these Kleins for long, especially when working above shoulder height. The quality seems very good, no question, but what's the use of a pair of pliers if they can't hold parts smaller than 1mm, there is a gap between the gripping part? I think I expected too much based on the positive reviews, and I still think they could be better if: 1. They weren't that heavy. 2. Slightly shorter, maybe 8 inches. The grip rubber was fuller, softer and thicker with insulation.4. There was no gap between capture part.5. easy to open and close (like Knipex), by the way I love "made in the USA" tools with a historical background. There is a certain satisfaction in owning them.

Pros
  • high lever design. Rivet is closer to the cutting edge for 46% more cutting and gripping power than other plier designs
Cons
  • String is shorter than other picks
