They match my leopard gecko perfectly and give great warmth! However, the closer the bulb is to the surface, the more it heats up. It can easily reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at over 14 inches. I have bought these bulbs before but in a different wattage and I know some people have an issue with them although it is due to the design that they can sometimes be short lived. Here are some tips I've found to potentially prolong its life: 1. Don't keep it 24/7. Reptiles are better at dealing with the day/night cycle anyway, so turning it off at night will help extend its lifespan2. Do not touch the bulb or the like with bare hands. The grease on your hands can get hot on the lamp and break it. I always wipe the bulbs with paper towels or something similar to minimize the chance of this happening. But yes! This is the perfect daytime heat spot and good for energy efficiency!
