Review on Adjustable Metal Reptile Dual Lamp Stand | Holder for Terrarium Heating Light by REPTI ZOO by Sandy Martin

Great stand but plastic thumbscrews require some work

At first I was surprised at how much the stand fits into such a small box. The stand itself is quite nice, metal construction for poles and light bracket. Extensions are included to increase the height as well as the length of the "mounting" bars. Installation was easy, legs are included to raise the tank if needed to allow the bracket to slide under the tank. The bracket is then clamped onto the tank to keep the double sided tape from wearing out. Mine has a Flukers ceramic dome with a ceramic heater on one side and a standard light on the other. Everything seems solid and hasn't moved since installation. My only major downside to this item is the plastic thumbscrews that tighten the vertical bars that hold the lightbulbs. Another person posted a photo of a head cutting off a bolt. Mine did the same when I went to tighten it. Luckily I had superglue and a vise on hand. I was able to put the head back on the screw and it works fine. They really have to be metal, I don't see how metal would increase the cost of production by much. Just be careful when tightening them and you'll probably be fine, otherwise make sure you have good superglue. In the future I might take one to a hardware store to see if I can find metal studs with the same thread and try to replace them. Overall this is a solid addition to my tortoise shell that I am happy with.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
